Cults gain a foothold when insecure believers grow to believe they need something more than Jesus for their salvation. They may think they need Apostles, more charismatic experiences, works or anything else that they believe would give them enough value to be loved by God. But in reality, they are loved by God who died for us while we were still sinners and offered us the free gift of salvation.
Ephesians points us to a great truth, our salvation is a gift. We don’t get salvation by working to appease God or man. Salvation comes by faith in God who offers freely what we cannot accomplish on our own.
