As I read and observe interactions between people I recognize that in many situations we have to earn “love” and acceptance. That sets us up to view our relationship with God in the same way. We feel we are never good enough, no matter how hard we strive. Perhaps sometimes we just give up feeling we will never be worthy of God’s love. Fortunately that is not true. God’s love is amazing, astounding, even breathtaking. Scripture tells us that we are saved by grace, that while we were sinners (before we attained what we thought we had to do to be acceptable)Christ died for us. The door to forgiveness and eternal life has swung open. Not because of our effort but because of God’s great love.
