2+2=?
We should love every person as a person created in God’s image, whether we agree with them or not. However, while treating each person with respect, we must clearly speak to the issues that undergird the cultural problems around us. We need to be involved in greater society while we still can. We should to proclaim Christ, live our lives in accordance with Scriptural principles, and refuse to embrace the lies.
One prescient YouTube video reflects the dystopian world we live in all too well. The clip is 2+2=5, and it seemed a bit outlandish when it first surfaced, but today reflects reality. See if you can spot the similarities. When most of us were younger, no one ever thought that there were hundreds of genders, that sex was assigned (versus being observed) at birth, or that people could change their sex. In reality, none of those things is true; there are not hundreds of genders, sex is not assigned at birth, and people cannot change their sex. Yet, to avoid trouble at work and in society, we are asked to pretend that they are. This is really, the tip of the iceberg, as reality is being redefined in some areas on a daily basis. It has become our task to incorporate Scripture into our lives and to stand for what is true according to God’s word. God’s word helps us with sex (Genesis 1:27 So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.), with marriage (Matthew 19:4-5 reads: He answered, ‘Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning “made them male and female,” and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”?’”) and the appropriate place for sexual activity (1 Corinthians 7:2 “But because of cases of sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.”). Do not repeat or support the lies of the culture. The “liberty” our culture offers turns out to be poisonous. Reject the lie.
