Enough is Enough

This morning, I came across a TikTok video showcasing an LGBTQ event held at the White House. The video featured President Biden warmly greeting members of the LGBTQ community, a display of an LGBTQ banner flanked by two American flags at the Capitol, and a brief clip of some transgender individuals exposing their chests and breasts.

I have concerns about the government’s involvement in social causes, as that is not the primary purpose of government. As a citizen, I feel that the government should represent all its constituents without favoring specific social issues. The presence of an LGBTQ flag flying between American flags at the Capitol raises questions for me. Why is the American flag seemingly in a subordinate position in this display? Additionally, I’m curious about the reasons behind the president’s meeting with transgender representatives and the failure to prevent the video from being filmed at the Capitol.

I find it challenging to articulate the depth of my displeasure with these actions. It’s important for our government to maintain a sense of impartiality and avoid using its position to promote any specific agenda, particularly when it comes to controversial social issues. It is incumbent for the government to demonstrate a sense of impartiality and to obey the rule of law.

I strongly believe it is time to resist the government’s misguided advocacy and overreach. Instead, we should advocate for a return to governmental minimalism, where the focus is on fulfilling the essential responsibilities of the government. There has been an increasing encroachment into various aspects of American lives, and it is crucial to address this issue. The government must strive to excel in areas it is responsible for rather than diverting attention and resources to unrelated matters.

A further issue has to do with the willingness with which our culture and government have plunged into sin and immorality. The very values that undergird Western culture are based in a Christian Worldview. Honesty, integrity, truthfulness, concern for others, mercy, forgiveness, and a host of other principles improved society and helped develop a functioning society where human life was valued. I would concede that, as all people are inherently broken, born in sin, and needing redemption, we have failed to achieve everything we should have. Still, the arc of progress generally appeared to be bringing us to a more humane existence. That has changed. Society and culture have now turned on that which had brought redemption to people and wholeness to societies. Both culture and society are actively rejecting the principles found in Scripture and a Christian Worldview.

Based on what history has shown us and based on the trends in Europe and Canada, this “great reversal” may well continue, and it may become difficult to live out a faithful Christian existence. Proclaiming the Gospel or advocating for Christian principles may also become increasingly difficult.

Decide not to be quiet when uncomfortable moral decisions are being discussed. Pray, seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and with grace, share what God would have you do.  Write, speak, and advocate for the gospel and its associated values and truths at every opportunity. Do not allow yourself to be forced to repeat or affirm their propaganda. Refuse to tell a lie or a falsehood. When you speak, proclaim the truth.
