Those Pesky Pronouns

Public conversation is like walking through a minefield. I am expected to “respect” people by utilizing their pronouns. If they have identified as another gender, I am expected to use their new name and designation. At the outset, that does not seem entirely unreasonable. Who wants to upset people and make people feel bad?

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. It is not a matter of respect or lack of respect. We are being compelled to treat a physical impossibility as if it is a reality. It is biologically and physically impossible for any individual to change their gender, and to behave as if there has been a gender change is an emotional and psychological issue. The delusion that a man can become a woman or a woman can become a man is the basis of attempts to dictate the speech and behavior of ordinary people.

If that were all there was to it, one could engage in the delusion out of politeness. A bit like playing “Let’s Pretend.” But this is not the case at all. Along with the demand that I utilize specific pronouns and new names, there is a hidden assumption. Associated with the demand that I use a person’s particular pronouns and call them by the name associated with their new gender, it is understood that I implicitly agree with the trans agenda. To be a decent person, I must be an ally. So, the use of language cannot be easily separated from the assumptions accompanying that language.

The claim that there is such a thing as a “trans” person results in demands and privileges for that person. Those new demands and privileges impact real women and cause harm. As a result, I cannot utilize woke pronouns or agree to any associated demands. Doing so would be an affront to my faith and the biological principles underlying human life.

The following are 14 areas negatively impacted by the trans agenda.

Freedom-related Constitutional issues

  1. Loss of freedom of speech and expression
  2. Compelled speech.
  3. Loss of religious freedom as sexual ideology trumps religious freedom.
  4. Issues of children’s rights versus parents’ rights when children wish to transition.

Emotional, physical, financial, or social damage to women

  1. Forcing women to compete against men puts women at a disadvantage in sports.
  2. Loss of scholarships and social prestige
  3. Infringing upon women’s right to privacy by putting men in women’s spaces
  4. Increased risk of physical harm in sporting events.
  5. Sexual assaults in shelters, jails, and previously sex-segregated locations.

Societal conflict

  1. Medical damage due to gender-affirming care
  2. Gender confusion and increased anxiety, depression, and psychological distress.
  3. Increased social tension and division.
  4. Increasing religious and cultural clashes
  5. Increased healthcare costs due to gender-affirming care, such as hormone therapy and surgery.

The trans movement is part of a more significant movement that seeks to destabilize society and break down the family unit. None of us should support that agenda.
