Where has the sexual revolution of the last sixty years taken us? Since the 1960s, we’ve seen a loosening of sexual mores, an increase in sexually transmitted diseases, millions of deaths through abortion, broken relationships, psychological trauma, and the current erasure of women’s rights. This sexual revolution is an ideological movement that is out to destroy the family and blur the line between male and female.
Today, we were treated to a headline of Jill Biden, the president’s wife, on International Woman’s Day, presenting an award to a male who now self-identifies as a female. “So what?” you might ask. What’s the big deal? We have laws allowing men to use women’s restrooms and locker rooms, male runners taking the top spots in races for women, and Lia Thomas winning swimming meets with women. Can’t compete against your sex? No problem, identify as a woman, and you get to beat the girls. In addition, today, USA Powerlifting, which had proposed a separate trans category, was told that this concession was insufficient. A judge ordered that biological men must be allowed to compete against women.
In this Orwellian world of newspeak, it is forbidden to speak of the now self-identified female as being male or ever having been male. To use the wrong pronouns or to misgender this person is unforgivable. It is like we have all agreed to play “let’s pretend,” and it is against the rules of society to decline to play. This is even though they were previously male, are currently male, and will always be male.
This ideology intends to destroy the traditional family, bury Christian mores, and erase women. Over the last several years, liberal policymakers have implemented various “trans-friendly” policies marginalizing women. The hard-fought right to have female sports enshrined in title 19 legislation is being stripped away and women are forced to play against men. Modest women are forced to use bathrooms and locker rooms where males who self-identify as a female can walk in and undress at any time. Not only do women have to subject themselves to being observed in various stages of undress, but they are also forced to observe male genitalia. Women are humiliated while losing their events and having their scholarships disappear.
None of this makes any sense. It is a giant step backward for women’s rights. There are few things as sure as the fact that people are male and female. There is generally no crossover. Once a male, always a male; once a female, always a female. The disruption of society and sports for the sake of a few individuals suffering from a psychological malady seems incredibly inappropriate. This game of “let’s pretend” needs to stop. Neither I nor society needs to support individuals living in a fictional world. Why must women be forced to compete against men? Why must girls and women be forced to share intimate living spaces with men? Is it that women have no rights? Are women not worthy of a place of their own? Should women be subjected to abuse through no fault of their own? This is bizarre behavior at best. Why would society compel most people to play “let’s pretend” to please a tiny minority of people, significantly when it disadvantages half of our community?
Ideologies make terrible taskmasters. This can be seen in the case of the recent decision for USA Powerlifting. The organization recognized the unfairness of forcing women to compete against men and proposed the reasonable alternative of developing a trans category. With that change, women would not lose titles or be humiliated in their locker rooms, and men who self-identify as women would be allowed to compete fairly against other self-identified women. However, that was not acceptable. Only a complete surrender to the ideology was acceptable. It is the same thing in society. Christian schools are litigated against and protested because they will not embrace an ideology contrary to their belief system. Only when all opposition is crushed will the ideology be satisfied.
I oppose this ideology because it is wrong. It is not only unfair, but it is also degrading to women. In addition to its moral failure and societal rot, I oppose the ideology because it is theologically off-base. So socially and religiously, I am opposed to the ideology. I will neither be silenced nor intimidated. I am not playing “let’s pretend” to the detriment of women. Let’s help by getting sexually confused people the counseling they need and enacting laws that protect and support women—enough foolishness.
